The Community Service Committee chaired by one of our first members, Bill Ambrose, consider approaches made to the club for help or support and make recommendations to the club as they judge fit. No request is held back pending a community services meeting. Many can be dealt with through informal contact between members.

“……..so where does all the money go?”

People in and around Ilminster generously support our fund raising projects, but we do get asked “Where does all the money go. The actual running costs of the club come from membership subscriptions so everything we raise gets recycled  back to Lions Charities.

Over the 30 years that the club has existed we reckon we have raised about £250,000.

In the last 2 years we donated £7500 in 2005 and £5200 in 2006. Most of the donations are made at the end of our year in June. So far this year we have donated £5300 and have earmarked another £3700 fort year end donations.

Donations are often made to individuals who have a particular need like a contribution toward the purchase of a mobility scooter, but some of this years donations are less specific, such as:-

£2300 to Musgrove Hospital for some vital signs equipment.

£360 Sight Savers one of Lions international projects.

£300 Senior Citizens Lunch

£600 Alzheimer's Society

£400 Ilminster Lights.

So please continue to support us generously.

Thank you
