A combination of superb weather, over 300 starters, the biggest field ever, and some ongoing construction work gave the arrangements for the Lions Charity 10 k quite a severe test. Thanks to the good humoured support and patience of the runners the race set off at 10.40 and some 34m. 47s later the first man , Stewart Crees crossed the finishing line and for the next 30 minutes or so there was a constant stream of runners finishing with some storming sprint finishes. The Ladies winner was Nina Wagstaff in 40m 57s.

At the presentation ceremony afterwards the Lions Club President Alan Dawe thanked the runners for their patience at the beginning. He went on to thank Electric Mobility Euro, Intersport Tony Pryce, The Coop and The Chard and Ilminster News for promoting and supporting the race. The Category Trophies were donated by, Bradford Building Supplies, Broomhead & Saul, Cottage Flowers, Funassett Ltd, Ilminster Fitness Centre, Ilminster Warehouse, J. Brake & Son, Prima Moda Brides, Richard Carbin Ltd and Sonic Systems Ltd.
