On a cold, cloudy but dry morning 282 runners, from all over the South West and even further afield, set off at 10.30 am on the Ilminster Lions Charity 10k from the Market House Ilminster. Set off by Carol Goodall, Mayor of Ilminster. Some 34.40 minutes later James Denne crossed the finish line to claim the Men’s first prize donated by Trophies 247, a subsidiary of Gordon Stoker of Ilminster. He was closely followed by Chris Ray and then by Mark Lewis. The ladies trophy, also donated by Trophies 247, was won by Alison Thorn in a time of 39.38 with Jessica Watkins second and Rachael Heard third. Runners continued to come in for another 40 minutes. In all 268 runners completed the race. Many of the runners came through the finish line with big smiles on their faces and afterwards said how much they had enjoyed the event, commenting on the organisation, marshalling and the degree of challenge over a very scenic route. The Lions Club thank all the runners for taking part and all those businesses and organisations who supported the event.
